Mszanowo is a village that is the seat of the commune authorities, located by the Drwęca River, about 2 km northeast from Nowe Miasto Lubawskie. It was mentioned for the firs time in 1327. Currently, also Łąki Bratiańskie is a part of the village council Mszanowo. Once it was an independent village located by the Drwęca River, between Nowe Miasto Lubawskie and Bratian. Łąki Bratiańskie was mentioned for the first time in 1400.
The village council has got 640 inhabitants (Mszanowo - 446, Łąki Bratiańskie - 194).
There is the seat of the commune authorities, commune education team, commune centre for social service, commune centre for culture, commune services company and a village clubhouse. There is also private clinic ‘Medicus’.
